The Signage System

Through Simply Screens, I made digital signage for restaurants, retail spaces, activity centers, and conventions. The work moved between menu layouts, motion graphics, product photography, and screen-ready video, depending on what each client needed people to notice.

Communication Challenge

Most viewers give a sign only a few seconds. A price has to be findable, a product has to look worth ordering, and a promotion has to make sense even if someone catches it halfway through an animation.

The constraint changed with each client. Restaurant screens needed appetizing product images and quick ordering information. Activity-center screens had to organize attractions, packages, and prices. Convention displays had only a few seconds to pull attention from a busy room.

Roxberry Juice Co. Product Media

For Roxberry Juice Co., the signage work expanded beyond layout and animation into product photography and video capture. Their in-store screens use real food and drink imagery, so the assets needed to make smoothies, bowls, and cheese bites look fresh, bright, and appealing at menu-board scale.

I photographed and prepared smoothies and new menu items for use in the animated signs. At menu-board size, the food needed to look appetizing while the name, price, and ordering information remained easy to read.

Brooker’s Founding Flavors

For Brooker’s Founding Flavors, the work centered on animated restaurant menu board content. The design needed to match the brand’s period-inspired personality while keeping flavors, prices, products, and promotional messages legible on screens inside the shop.

The movement was there to lead the eye between menu sections and promotions. If it made a flavor or price harder to read, it was doing the wrong job.

Provo Beach Activity Center

For Provo Beach, the signage work focused on arcade-style, beach-themed attraction messaging. The screens needed to explain indoor surfing, laser tag, bowling, miniature croquet, arcade credit, day passports, activity bundles, and pricing in a way that still felt playful.

I redesigned the menu and package screens around large labels, clear prices, and simple groupings. Motion kept the beach and arcade energy, while the layout helped guests compare activities and bundles without a long explanation from staff.

Additional Screen Content

Through Simply Screens, I also supported Kodiak Canvas with footage editing and preparation for convention-center digital signage. That work was less about a full visual redesign and more about shaping existing camping gear media into screen-ready content that could hold attention in a trade-show environment.

The production work changed from client to client: sometimes I was shooting the product, sometimes building a menu, and sometimes cutting footage for a trade-show display. In each case, the final screen had to work where it would actually be seen.

A digital sign has to earn attention quickly and then help someone act. That meant different visuals for each client, but the same practical check every time: can a person read the offer before the screen moves on?
