Photography FAQ
Planning a Photo Shoot Should Feel Easy
The process should feel clear before anyone steps in front of the camera. Here are the basics on planning, locations, travel, direction, and final deliverables.
01 Do you photograph both personal sessions and commercial projects?
Yes. I photograph portraits, couples, and model portfolios, along with commercial work for brands, products, fashion, fitness, swimwear, food, and editorial campaigns.
02 Where are you based, and do you travel for shoots?
I’m based in Utah and regularly shoot in and around Salt Lake City, and I’m happy to travel when the project calls for it. Some shoots work best in a studio, some need a clean outdoor location, and some need a setting that feels more personal to you or your brand. We’ll choose the location around the mood, story, lighting, schedule, travel needs, and final use of the images.
03 I’m awkward in front of the camera. Is that okay?
Totally normal. Most people need a little direction at first. I’ll help with movement, pacing, and small adjustments so the session stays relaxed and the final images look polished without feeling stiff.
04 Can you help plan the creative direction for a brand or product shoot?
Yes. For brand photography, product photography, fashion shoots, and campaign work, I can help shape the concept before we shoot. That can include mood, shot lists, styling notes, locations, lighting direction, product details, usage needs, and the kind of images your website, ads, launch, or social content actually needs.
05 Do you shoot in studio, on location, or both?
Both. Studio photography is great for portraits, products, controlled lighting, fitness work, and clean campaign images. Location photography works well for lifestyle shoots, fashion, swimwear, brand storytelling, couples sessions, and anything that needs more environment or movement.
06 How does the shoot process usually work?
We start with the goal: what the photos are for, who they need to speak to, and what kind of feeling they should have. From there, we plan the location, wardrobe, products, references, timing, and priorities. By the time we shoot, the direction is clear, but there’s still room for natural moments and better ideas as they happen.
07 What will I receive after the shoot?
You’ll receive a curated set of professionally edited images prepared for the agreed use. For personal sessions, that might mean a polished gallery for sharing, printing, or keeping. For commercial photography, we’ll clarify image count, licensing, crop needs, web-ready files, campaign usage, and any product or brand deliverables before the project begins.
